Person-Centred Counselling
Healing through Understanding
What is counselling/ psychotherapy?
Counselling is a 'talking therapy', that provides an opportunity for you to :
- make sense of your situation
- identify choices for change
- be supported through a process of change
- develop resources so that you feel better equipped to cope
Person-Centred Counselling
Working alongside you on an equal footing, a Trained Counsellor can help you to identify what is troubling you, by exploring your thoughts, values, feelings and behaviours. Through this understanding you may feel more able to deal with your situation and approach things differently.
Giving yourself time and space and with the help of a skilled counsellor, you will come to know more what is right for you.
Counselling gives you time and a safe confidential space, that you may not get in your day to day life. You may know exactly what is troubling you or you may feel anxious, distressed or angry and yet not know why.
It may take some time to work through your issues, and meeting regularly can help to do this.
How long we work together will depend on the issues you bring and the depth you want to explore them.
What I can Offer
I am a fully trained Counsellor/ Therapist who is passionate about the benefits of person centred counselling and will offer you my full commitment to help you work through what ever it is you bring to the sessions.
I will offer you warmth and understanding, listening to you in a way that helps you to identify what is important to you. You can say what you want without the fear of judgment, and together build a trusting relationship so that you are able to share what you may find difficult, painful or fearful.
Through sharing and deeper understanding, often comes healing.
I will respect and trust that what you choose to talk about is important to you, I will not direct you, this will come from you. I will try to help you find your own answers.

Sessions
In the first session, we will establish what has brought you to counselling and we will jointly decide whether we are able to work together.I usually suggest that we work together on the same day and time for 6 weekly sessions and then review progress
A session lasts 60 minutes.
6 Weekly Review
It is important for us to review the effectiveness of our work together. At this point you can choose to continue or you may feel that it is enough.
BACP
I am member of the BACP. The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy provides an Ethical Framework and guidelines by which I work.
