Hypnotherapy & NLP
What Is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy (Clinical Hypnosis) is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic setting, for the very gentle and respectful treatment of a wide variety of concerns or problems.
It can be an amazingly quick and highly effective method of bringing about positive and sustainable change: a short - term treatment that can deliver long - lasting results.
Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon and is best described as a pleasant state of deep relaxation combined with a heightened awareness. During Hypnotherapy, our subconscious (or unconscious) minds are highly receptive to new and more beneficial perspectives and ideas.
The subconscious mind keeps us safe, taking care of all our automatic responses and functions. It keeps our heart beating, blood circulating, digestive and lymph systems operating and our eyes blinking without our conscious awareness
.managing all of this without us having to think about it at all!
The subconscious mind also stores our less resourceful and sometimes problematic learned/conditioned responses or behavioural habits which may act as barriers to a fulfilled and happy life. Hypnotherapy is used to access the subconscious mind in order to modify or eliminate some of these responses, habits or behaviours and to bring about a greater sense of well-being and balance.
What Happens During Hypnotherapy?
Your Initial Consultation will take approximately 1 hour. During this session, you will have the space to discuss your concerns or problem in a completely confidential and sympathetic setting and to hear more information about the way that Hypnotherapy may work for you specifically. You will then be able to decide if you wish to go ahead with further sessions.
All subsequent Treatment Session - content is planned in partnership with you.
During your Treatment Sessions, you will only need to be in a very light state of hypnosis although this is still a deeply relaxed, safe feeling, being gently guided by the voice of your therapist. You will be aware of your surroundings and of external noises but will not be disturbed by them. There may be times when you will feel as though youre just drifting off which will feel very pleasant and your therapists voice will be with you at all times, addressing the subconscious part of the mind.
It is important to remember that during a Hypnotherapy session, you will remain aware of where you are, why you are there, who you are with and that you are in total control the whole of the time.
After your session, when you return to normal, conscious awareness, you will feel very calm and contented. Very quickly, you will feel fully awake and alert and will immediately be able to continue with your day in the normal way.
Each treatment session may last from 1 to 1½ hours depending upon the session content.
What Is NLP?
NLP is the abbreviation for NEURO - LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING - the art and science that is a model of communication and personality. It explains how we process the information that comes to us from the outside, via our sensory input channels. Using NLP, we can begin to notice the repeated patterns of behaviour which fail to bring us the results we so desire. These perpetuated behaviours can lead to dissatisfaction, disappointment, hurt, anger, sadness and a general frustration in our lives.
NLP allows us to change, adopt or eliminate behaviours as we wish and gives us the ability to choose our mental, emotional and physical states of well - being. It is a very practical set of skills that can help us to create the results we would choose to have rather than those we would rather not have.
Hypnotherapy and NLP are widely used as a blended technique.
